most of the metric system is great and all but honestly fuck celsius

lemme explain smthn: farenheit is human-centered.

in celsius, you have to use the dumb fucking scale of “0 = ???, 40 = hot as shit” like damn that’s some exponential curve stuff

but with farenheit it’s simple af. 0 is v cold. 100 is v hot. the end.

celsius makes sense for water, but am i water? no, im human.

stop being smug for using a shit temperature system.

The water is important because I make tea far more often than I have a fever.

It’s even dafter than that – the person the Fahrenheit system was based off ran hot, so the 100F which was *their* “normal” is “feverish” for everyone else.  Baseline “normal” on the F scale is something like 98.6F (with a variance between 97 – 99F also falling within the bounds of “normal”).

And to the people claiming Celsius makes no sense for weather reports, that’s only because you’re not used to Celsius weather reports. Fahrenheit weather reports were absolutely incomprehensible to me the first year I lived in the US. It’s just the measure you’re used to because I’m pretty sure none of us are mentally matching numbers up to humans or water at this point, meteorologist says 30 or 80, you just know.

tropicalfantasy:

I’m writing a story that has:

  • a young lesbian mage who is very badass and takes revenge on those who have wronged her. also, her response to being stuck with a maid that’s there to make sure that she “behaves like a proper lady” and stops meddling with black magic is to WOO AND DATE THE MAID
  • the above mentioned maid is actually the one that teaches the lesbian mage about black magic, because she comes from an island where there’s no distinction between white and black magic. also, she has two dads who are sailors and sent her to the mainland to pursue new opportunities, and they’re confused but a lil bit proud when their daughter shows up with her girlfriend and their friends to learn more about magic without the restricting binaries enforced in the mainland (also, she’s bi and proud)
  • the lesbian mage’s childhood friend, a scrawny edgelord who was almost killed by her when they were playing with black magic as kids, and his reaction to that (after being in a coma for a while) was THAT SPELL WAS SO COOL, TEACH ME PLS (he wears eyeliner to make his baby blue eyes look a little more threatening – same thing with his hooded black cape, he doesn’t like it that he’s smol – and he’s involved with some not-so-legal business)
  • a cinnamon roll butcher who was told magic was not for him but found these three friends who people think are very scary because they know black magic but they’re so supportive and encouraging? and actually encourage him when he wants to ask questions and learn?? and why is everyone so good looking, he was supposed to like girls but whY IS EVERYONE SO GOOD LOOKING AND NICE I AM CONFUSE??? (spoiler alert, he’s pan)

anyway, if you’re interested in this story please check out my patreon! patrons get access to my discord where I can scream about those characters and their adventures, and also livestreams where they can ask anything! and I post one short story about them each month! and if you support me you’re helping  me feed my cats!

nonbinarypastels:

when we talk about how people are allowed to learn from their mistakes, admit they were wrong, and grow to be a better person that 100% has to apply to older adults as well as young kids/teens.

there’s no age where it’s too late for someone to change.

there’s no age where once a person has grown past it they are no longer allowed to ever make mistakes or make up for them.

there’s no age where once a person has grown past it they are no longer to ever have any change in their beliefs.

change and growth are not things that only young people can do and they are not things that we should only support in young people. holding something some said 5, 10, 20 years ago against them when they’ve already apologized for it and moved on from it is just as fucked up if you’re doing it to someone in their 20s or someone in their 40s or older.
