Sometimes I wonder if the FFVII fandom is dead or dying, or maybe it’s just that everyone’s lives are too damned busy to squee over things. Or maybe they’ve moved onto other fandoms, and are squeeing over them instead.

Maybe it’s any combination of the above.

Whatever the case may be, I really miss just quietly screaming over meta and OTPs and What Ifs and all of that. Feeling lonely and isolated for the longest time and idk why.

Me too, but the fandom does seem a bit moribund. New fanfiction and fanart is still being produced and Crim hasn’t deserted us (would he ever?) but nobody seems to be able to muster the same excitement. Seems like we’re all pretty settled into what we think, who our faves are, who we ship, and how we headcanon, and we haven’t had any new material to debate in the longest time….

When the remake comes out we will look back with fondness on the quiet time. Dead fandoms have no drama.

As much as I look forward to new content and new fans, I am not looking forward to anti-Cloud/Sephiroth discourse or the inevitable wave of people lecturing adults old enough to be their parents that despite have been here since 1997 it’s really gross for adults to be in fandom because it belongs to teens. Or people telling fans who have liked this character for over a decade that it’s ‘actually really problematic’ to like Reno so stop

i have exciting news!!! 

i’m going to the paris ffxiv fanfest in february!!  woooo!!

i am hella pumped.

but… travel, accommodation & food all cost money ya dig.  as does a new laptop because mine decided to blow up last week.

so.  i am opening up commissions to hopefully lighten the load.  i’m keeping it simple to start as i’ve never done commission work before?? so…
