Do not just assume that the Democrats are going to win…the only way we can GUARANTEE that the Democrats make gains in these midterms is for people to go out and vote

Whatever the polls say, get out there and vote democrat, whereever you are

Do not just assume that they’ll “Definitely win” and so it doesn’t matter if you go out and vote or not

DON’T LISTEN TO POLLS EVER

a-promise-that-i-keep:

a lot of my friends have been noting that none of the “get out there and vote!” posts actually have any resources attached to them, so they’re great for motivation but if you don’t know how to vote they can really stress you out. so i compiled a list of resources that hopefully can help!

Step 1: Registration

Step 2: Preparation

Step 3: Voting!

  • Polling places can be crowded and the wait can be long to vote. Don’t freak out! Bring a book or some music/podcasts to listen to while you wait.
  • If you can’t make it on the day, you still have options! Find your state on this Ballotpedia page and click to learn more. The page it takes you to will have links and information on how to get an absentee ballot in your state. If you plan on absentee voting, hurry! The deadlines to apply and vote are usually sooner than the actual election day.

Most of all, remember: this election could swing the house and the senate, giving Democrats more control over new laws and legislation for years to come. You’re not a bad person if you can’t vote, but it’s a lot easier than you might think!

Let’s get out there and change the world!

hey not to be absolutely fucking morbid on main or anything but if we do reach a point where the rich try to escape extinction by fleeing earth to live on their secret mars colony or whatever my dying moments will be taking solace in the fact that a society comprised solely of the 1% of the richest people on the planet will tear itself apart in under a year

can’t wait for Fyre Fest 2 on mars

not to be overly optimistic on main but without the 1% we might stand a chance

With all of them up on Mars or wherever, what will prevent the 99% of us on Earth from just not answering their calls anymore? Armed security forces, holding 7 billion people at gunpoint, to keep working for masters no longer even on the fucking Earth? How long will that last, before that force is overthrown by sheer numbers?

Where will the 1% get their food, without us? No Martian greenhouse is going to grow everything. Livestock included? Region-specific crops? Right. They’ll bank their survival on Terran imports until they get everything “settled” up there. No way a single one of them has the patience to make sure they’re self-sufficient first, nor will any ever believe that the employees they’re leaving for dead would ever turn on them.

Where will they get their water? Rooftop rain harvesters? On fucking Mars?

Where will they get their replacement parts for their Space Dubai? Mixing cob from Martian clay and their precious, limited water supply? Expecting robot servants to cannibalize themselves for parts?

Where will they get their medicine? Every medicine known to Earth comes from Earth.

We could set satellites to deliberately exclude them from broadcasting and data transfers. No entertainment. No news. No media. No nothing. Think of it as plenty of time to read. Well, the books they took with them, anyway.

So, fuck ‘em.

Just let that phone ring and ring. And don’t let them ever return, to slum it up with us poors on Earth. You make the choice to abandon ship rather than pay a cent to correct problems you were complicit in exacerbating? You’re fucking well gonna be held to that choice by everyone you left behind.

NASA actually has been trying to develop a completely self-contained ecosystem with an eye on founding a Mars colony for some time now, so yay advancement in any case, because if the 1% take advantage and have what they need, they can bugger off and stay there. Without FTL travel it’s not like they can zoom back here to argue if we cut them off.

This is the spoopy content you need on your dash

This is so precious I can’t even…

Everybody loves pumpkin enrichment!

These are great items because they’re fun for the herbivores to each, the carnivores to tear apart, and everybody to roll and throw around. They’re tactile, olfactory, and edible enrichment all in one!

I believe they’re acceptable on-exhibit enrichment for naturalistic facilities like Brookfield in Chicago, too.

I think of this time of year as Tumblr’s Annual Pumpkining of the Animals Post.

The bat though!

This is the best thing!

Our local pumpkin farm gives any unsold pumpkins to the zoo!
